The following information and services are offered to the public by Thurston County Noxious Weeds:
- Educational presentations
- For plant identification, especially those which may be noxious weeds, you can:
- E-mail a digital image with your contact information to tcweeds@co.thurston.wa.us
- If we are unable to identify the plant from the photo, we may ask you to bring a sample to the office
- Site visits on your property
- Informational brochures and pamphlets

- Schedule an appointment for pick up
- If a tool is not available, we will place your name on a waiting list
- Each person who borrows the tool must sign a liability disclaimer form
Disposal of Noxious Weeds
Since some weeds have restrictions on transportation, it is important to positively identify weeds before disposing of them. Go here for a list of weeds with transportation restrictions.
- Positively identify species to determine proper control and disposal.
- Put flowering plants in sealed bag and dispose of in garbage
- Bag weeds and place them in garbage.
- DO NOT put weeds in yard waste or compost - noxious weeds can reproduce even after pulled.
- Secure loads if hauling to disposal sites.
- There are restrictions for transporting certain species of noxious weeds. Check laws regarding transportation of weeds.
- These species are eligible for free disposal at the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center and Drop boxes.
- For the species that are not eligible for free disposal, regular garbage rates will be charged. Click here to find out what else you can do to dispose of these bad weeds.
