OLYMPIA – Yesterday, just before 5:00 p.m., the county received an email from the CEO of the Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston Counties (CACLMT) notifying the county the organization will not be entering into a renewal contract for distribution of Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) funding or the Rapid Rehousing Contract with the county, both of which expired yesterday, June 30, 2022. The county is committed to providing these services to the most vulnerable individuals in the community and is working diligently to find solutions for distributing the funding with minimal disruptions.
The Board of County Commissioners voted to renew the HEN and Rapid Rehousing contracts with CACLMT on June 14, 2022 at its regular board meeting. The CACLMT provided public comment to the Regional Housing Council (RHC) requesting renewal of the contracts on April 27, 2022. The RHC immediately made a recommendation to the BoCC to renew the contracts.
