OLYMPIA – Due to an increased demand for COVID-19 testing in the community, Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) is hosting a free drive through COVID-19 PCR testing clinic at the Thurston County Fairgrounds, Long Lake Park entrance, located at 2790 Carpenter Road SE, Lacey. Testing will occur weekdays beginning Wednesday, January 5 through Friday, January 14 from 10am – 1pm. No testing will occur at this site on the weekends. Testing is for symptomatic individuals, close contacts to a positive COVID-19 case, or for people who have been instructed to get tested by public health.
PHSS will test the last patient at 12:50pm each day. When testing capacity has been reached, the lanes will be shut down and additional patients will not be accepted. Test results will be available approximately 48-72 hours from the time of testing. Due to high demand for testing, you may experience increased wait times.
PHSS is focused on meeting the testing needs of the community and has quickly transitioned from its regular testing schedule to a larger scale, mass testing site at the fairgrounds. Mobile COVID-19 testing at the Tenino City Park, Rochester Organization of Families, testing in Lacey, the Union Gospel Mission, and The Evergreen State College are cancelled this week and next week. If you were planning to attend any of these testing locations, please visit the fairground testing location instead.
“With the more transmissible omicron variant circulating in our county, I strongly urge anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19, has been in close contact with someone who tested positive, or has been instructed by public health or their healthcare provider to get tested and stay home,” said Thurston County Health Officer Dr. Dimyana Abdelmalek. “If you have not received the COVID-19 vaccine or booster yet, I encourage you to get vaccinated and not delay any further. Talk to your healthcare provider if you have questions.”
