OLYMPIA – The Thurston County Auditor’s Office Election Division conducted a clean random audit of the November 5 General Election. No discrepancies were found in the audit to verify the tabulation system accurately counted ballots.
Three precincts and a race were mutually selected by the county Democratic and Republican parties to be audited. The ballots from the selected precincts are run through the tabulation system, and a report was generated detailing the results of the selected race. These results are sealed in an envelope.
Two separate audit boards hand-counted the ballots. The hand counts were compared against each other and against the machine results to confirm accuracy. This process is codified in RCW 29A.60.170, 185.
For the November 5, 2024 General Election, the mutually agreed to precincts were 204, 347 and 701. The race was Governor. The results of the hand count, which matched the machine tabulated count, were:
204 | 347 | 701 | |
Bob Ferguson | 46 | 44 | 43 |
Dave Reichert | 13 | 39 | 77 |
Write-Ins | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Undervotes | 0 | 0 | 1 |
Overvotes | 0 | 0 | 0 |
The random audit was open to the public and observers appointed by the county Democratic and Republican parties. One observer attended to watch the audit in person.
