Solid Waste Advisory Committee is Recruiting Two Representatives
The Solid Waste Advisory Committee, or SWAC, has two openings they are actively recruiting. These include a resident representative and a business representative.
To qualify as a resident representative, you must live in unincorporated Thurston County in Commissioner District Number 3. Please review the County Commissioner District Map to find your Commissioner District. To qualify as a business representative, you must represent a business operating anywhere within Thurston County.
This is an exciting time to be a member of the SWAC. Input is needed on major capital improvement projects at the Waste and Recovery Center (WARC) in Lacey and at the Rainier and Rochester drop-box facilities. Members of the committee also regularly provide their perspectives on other solid waste issues to the Board of County Commissioners and assist in the development of solid waste programs and policies.
If you have a background or interest in the management of garbage and recycling and how it affects residents, businesses, and the natural environment, please apply. Submit an application by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, on the Board of County Commissioners' Advisory Boards and Commissions webpage. If you have questions about these positions or the application, contact Amanda Romero with Thurston County Public Works at Amanda.romero@co.thurston.wa.us
