Thurston County, City of Tumwater Planning Commissions to Hold Public Hearing on Tumwater Joint Plan Update

OLYMPIA –The Thurston County and City of Tumwater Planning Commissions will hold a virtual public hearing on Thursday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. to receive public testimony on a proposal to update the Tumwater Joint Plan. The Thurston County Planning Commission will provide a link to attend the meeting a week before the public hearing on the Planning Commission Meeting Materials webpage. The link will be included in the meeting agenda.
The proposed amendments include revised background information, updated policy language, several site-specific land-use and zoning amendments, and expansion of the Airport Hazard overlay in the Tumwater Urban Growth Area and rural county.

Background: The Growth Management Act requires counties and cities to adopt joint plans that guide development in the Urban Growth Areas. The Tumwater Joint Plan was last updated in 2009, with a minor update in 2016.
