The Thurston County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) is encouraging interested members of the public to apply for one of the 25 citizen advisory boards, commissions, and committees. Members bring an important point of view, often representing a geographic interest, area of expertise, or professional association. The county is actively recruiting applicants for the Agricultural Advisory Committee and the Boundary Review Board.

The Agricultural Advisory Committee is seeking an Ex Officio student member. The Agricultural Advisory Committee advises the BoCC on matters related to agriculture in Thurston County. Student member applicants must live in Thurston County and should be interested in the county’s agricultural industry. These applicants should ideally be involved in 4-H, Future Farmers of America (FFA), or have other related experience.

“We are excited to get the voice of the younger generation involved with this committee,” said County Commissioner Carolina Mejia. “Please encourage any students who are passionate about local farming and agriculture to apply for this unique leadership opportunity.”

The Boundary Review Board is also recruiting a new member. The Boundary Review Board works to ensure that cities, towns, and special purpose districts adequately plan and finance urban services and boundary extensions in a manner consistent with comprehensive land use plans. Applicants must live in Thurston County and not be employed by local government.
