OLYMPIA – The Thurston County Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing to receive public testimony on Tuesday, November 23, at 3:00pm regarding a proposed one-tenth of one percent sales tax increase for all Thurston County residents, except for City of Olympia residents, as allowed under House Bill 1590 to support affordable housing activities.

OLYMPIA – Thurston County Public Health and Social Services is reporting a toxic algae bloom at Black Lake. The state advisory level for microcystins are 8.0 ug/L and the lab results show toxin levels of microcystins at the sample site at Black Lake are 33 ug/L.

​OLYMPIA – This week is Flood Awareness Week in Thurston County, and county leaders are encouraging residents to prepare for winter storms that can create floods by checking their emergency kits, making plans with family members, and getting flood insurance before disaster strikes.

OLYMPIA – The deadline for Thurston County residents to pay their 2021 second half property taxes is October 31, 2021. Because the 31st falls on a Sunday this year, the law allows the payment to be made the next business day, which is Monday, November 1st without late fees being added.
