Driving Directions

The Purpose of County Addressing

To speed emergency aid to County residents when needed, Thurston County government adopted an ordinance for the systematic organization of streets and building addresses within the County's jurisdiction.

Roads and buildings are numbered by their geographical coordinates on an addressing grid. During crisis, emergency vehicles use the address grid to quickly locate streets and buildings. The address on any building not only speeds aid to the structure, it also provides a sign to indicate direction and distance to be traveled to the designated location.

Who is Notified of Addresses
The emergency service 911, and also the US Postal Service, Puget Sound Energy, and the Thurston County Assessor’s Office. No notification is provided to Google or any other online addressing service, by Thurston County government.
