Community Planning and Economic Development

Per Board of County Commissioners decision, the Storm and Surface Water Advisory Board (SSWAB)  will be changed to the Water Resources Advisory Board (WRAB) and will be governed by a revised set of rules and procedures.  

The Water Resources Advisory Board works with the Board of County Commissioners to help inform decisions about surface water, groundwater, Shoreline Master Program (SMP) implementation and other matters referred by the Board of County Commissioners.

About the Water Resources Advisory Board

WRAB was established June 30, 2024.

WRAB Duties

  1. Assist with no net loss monitoring, conducting shoreline plan research, best practices, and related matters.
  2. Advise on other subjects related to water resources which warrant advisory committee review, such as surface and ground water availability, effects of climate change on water, and other matters.
  3. Provide expertise on other water resources planning matters such as the Shoreline Management Plan, water availability, and assist other land use policy making advisory boards and commissions.
  4. Shoreline Master Program implementation and amendment, surface water and groundwater planning and assessment, and other related policy matters referred to the advisory board by the Board of County Commissioners.
  5. Review and provide recommendations to staff and the BoCC on water resource planning, guiding plans and documents.
  6. Communicate regularly with the public and other water-resource-concerned groups to bring a broad water resource perspective.
