Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs
This program offers:
- Access and coordination of services to all children with special needs
- Limited direct medical services, equipment, and supplies to those families that meet financial and eligibility requirements
Who is eligible for services?
- Any parent/ guardian who has concern for their child's development, social-emotional behaviors, mental health, and any medical conditions or disabilities
Children with Special Health Care Needs Program Coordinator work to help children meet their highest potential possible by:
- Access and coordination of care
- Providing health information and guidance
- Referring to community resources
- Family-centered approach

Ages & Stages: View the milestones your child should reach from infancy to 5 years
Milestone Tracker App: Track your child’s milestones from age 2 months to 5 years
Strong Start: Use Strong Start to record information from a screening that has already been completed
Autism Speaks: Learn the early signs & symptoms of autism and find additional information and support
Autism Screening: Take the M-CHAT-R questionnaire that will ask a series of 20 questions about your child’s behavior

Virtual Mom to Mom: Monthly support group for moms with children with special healthcare needs
In-person Dad to Dad: Bi-weekly support group for dads with children with special healthcare needs
Latino Mama con Mama: Virtual support group for Spanish-speaking moms with children with special healthcare needs
Online Parent/Caregiver Support Group: For parents or caregivers who are caring for children with social, emotional, or behavioral health issues

Perinatal Support of Washington: Support Groups for Parents in Washington State
Safe Kids Thurston County: Find information on keeping your child safe in your home, on the go, and in the car
Washington Poison Center: Provides immediate, free, and expert treatment advice and assistance on the telephone in case of exposure to poisonous, hazardous, or toxic substances

HelpMeGrow Washington: Find local resources for things such as clothing banks, employment, housing, and financial support
Food Resources: Apply for SNAP or WIC benefits, find local food banks, sign up for summer meals for your children
Health Resources: Enroll in free or low-cost health insurance, find dental clinics, and access to family planning services
Pregnancy and Childbirth Resources: Breastfeeding and childbirth support as well as access to diapers and supplies
Parent and Caregiver Resources: Childcare locations, foster care services, parenting classes, support groups, one-on-one parent & caregiver support
InsureKidsNow: Apply for free or low-cost health & dental coverage through CHIP
Access to Baby & Child Dentistry (ABCD): Connects low-income families with dental providers
Lifespan Respite: Find free or low-cost respite care for children, youth, and adults who have a chronic or disabling condition
Disability Determination Services: Apply for Social Security Disability Insurance, Supplemental Security Income, and Non-Grant Medical Assistance

Developmental Disabilities Complaint Process: If your child is receiving services from Washington State, they are eligible for services from DD Ombuds
