County Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Amendments to the 2020-2021 Official Dockets
OLYMPIA – The Thurston County Board of Commissioners are considering two proposals for addition to the 2020-2021 Official Dockets of Comprehensive Plan and Development Code Amendments. The commissioners invite the public to submit written comments on whether or not the county should add these two proposals to the dockets.

Board Declares Racism a Crisis in Thurston County
OLYMPIA – Today, the Thurston County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a resolution declaring racism a crisis in Thurston County. In a subsequent meeting, the Board of Health then proclaimed racism is a public health crisis.

Thurston County Releases 2021 Preliminary Data for Point-in-Time (PIT) Homeless Census
Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) has released preliminary data for the 2021 Point-in-Time (PIT) Homeless Census. This preliminary data reflects the number of Thurston County residents experiencing unsheltered homelessness or staying in shelters or transitional housing programs.

Board of County Commissioners to Hold Three Public Hearings on Amendments to Special Use Regulations
OLYMPIA – The Board of County Commissioners will hold three public hearings on Tuesday, March 16, at 3:00 p.m., or soon thereafter, in Room 280, Building 1 of the Thurston County Courthouse, 2000 Lakeridge Dr. SW in Olympia, to accept public comment on three docket items in the 2020-2021 Official Development Code Docket. The items are: A-20 "Permitted Childcare Centers," CR-1 "Resorts & Retreats Code Amendment," and CR-4 "Commercial Smokehouse Code Amendment."

On Friday, March 5, Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) will host a drive-through COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Thurston County Fairgrounds. The clinic will be by appointment only.

Funding Available for Streamside Planting Projects
OLYMPIA – Thurston County is seeking qualified local projects designed to enhance streamside native vegetation along the middle and lower Deschutes River, McLane Creek, Upper Schneider Creek, and associated tributaries. Project funding is provided through a National Estuary Program (NEP) Riparian Restoration Grant through the Washington State Department of Ecology.
